A space to untangle what you’re carrying.
Amanda Wilson, LCSW
I’m Amanda.
I’m the founder and owner of RIVE Counseling. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker licensed to practice in New York and New Jersey. My passion for working with women comes from seeing how much we’re often balancing emotionally, relationally, and socially, and the pressure to hold everything together. RIVE grew out of wanting to create a space where women don’t have to perform or push through, but can slow down and show up as they are.
This work isn’t about becoming a new person.
It’s about coming back to yourself.
What it’s like to work with me
Therapy with me is reflective, warm, and grounded. I bring a calm, steady presence to sessions, and I approach the work in a way that feels collaborative rather than clinical or rigid.
If emotions feel intense or hard to hold, we focus on one thing at a time, creating space to release or process it in a way that feels safe and manageable. Validation is an important part of the work, and I believe feeling understood is often the foundation for meaningful change.
I’m professional but approachable, and I use humor when it feels natural and appropriate. I gently name patterns when it’s helpful, while always respecting your pace and autonomy. I won’t push you to talk about anything before you’re ready, and I don’t believe in rushing, fixing, or minimizing what you’re experiencing.
MY APPROACH
Therapy with me is thoughtful, collaborative, and paced with care.
I value autonomy, honesty, depth, and emotional safety in the therapy space. I strive to create an environment that feels welcoming, compassionate, and real. A space where you don’t have to perform or have the “right” words.
I’m also mindful of the broader cultural, societal, and political contexts that shape our lives and identities, and I aim to meet clients with understanding and respect for those experiences. My goal is to offer therapy that feels relevant, human, and rooted in empathy.
